1-The Fear (of Missing Out): 2 Million people visit this Masterpiece per year, there must be a reason !
Highly recommended to visit early in the morning to avoid big crowds
2-The Walk: a beautiful walk in the nature, about 30 min, a bit uphill, before you get to the Palace (so please no high heels)
3-The View: no need for too much words because the picture does a good job and its even better once you are actually there.
4-The History & Romance: Construction started in 1840, considered unanimously the greatest expression of 19th-century romanticism in Portugal
5-The Reward: After your visit to Pena Palace, go to Sintra the Historical Centre and stop by Casa Piriquita, (founded in 1862) to try a delicious “Travesseiro” = a traditional pastry with egg cream and almond
(legend says there is a secret ingredient responsible for its colossal success).
“Travesseiro” means ‘pillow’ due to their shape!
