The New Coastal Walk You Probably Don’t Know Yet

The New Coastal Walk You Probably Don’t Know Yet 🚶

Just 19 km (12 miles) from the centre of Cascais, between Praia da Adraga and Praia Grande 🏖️, a spectacular new coastal walkway takes you through one of the wildest and most dramatic stretches of the Sintra coastline, with breathtaking views over the Atlantic.

The new Adraga–Praia Grande Ecological Park has around 2.5 km of wooden walkways, winding through an almost untouched landscape of cliffs, native vegetation and imposing ocean views.

Along the way you’ll find viewpoints, picnic areas and even Dinosaur footprints🦕 preserved in the rocks near Praia Grande.

It’s wild, windswept and incredibly beautiful — the kind of place where you really feel the scale and power of the Atlantic.

🎥And in case you don’t trust me, check out how it really looks — & feels — in this Video 🎥 here

LocalCascais tip: go early in the morning or towards sunset. Better light, fewer people — and there isn’t much shade along the route.

📍 Where to start: Estrada do Rodízio, Colares
🥾 Distance: around 2.5 km
🌊 Expect: breathtaking Atlantic views
🦖 Bonus: dinosaur footprints

And now you’ll probably be hungry…

After 2.5 km along the Atlantic, there’s a good chance you’ll be ready for lunch. Luckily, two restaurants I really love — for very different reasons — are right here.

Restaurante da Adraga
Sitting right on Adraga Beach, this is the place for excellent fresh fish and seafood, in one of the most dramatic settings on the Sintra coast. It’s an old-school classic

Bar do Fundo
At the other end, overlooking Praia Grande. More relaxed, younger and with a fantastic terrace overlooking the ocean. Very different from Adraga, but equally special.

Walk + Atlantic + a long lunch. Not a bad way to spend half a day.

One to do before everyone discovers it.
