Bonança: Worth Leaving Cascais For
Bonança: Worth Leaving Cascais For !
Bonança Restaurant: A Slice of Joy (and Great Taste) by the River… in Lisbon!
🚨Disclaimer: This blog is called Local Cascais for a reason. But every now and then, I make an exception. And this one is totally worth it.
Bonança, a new spot in Belém, Lisbon, is an impressive, joyful restaurant that mixes Portuguese flavors with tropical and Mediterranean feel.
The restaurant’s theme is a tribute to Vasco da Gama’s famous voyage to India in 1498 ⚓
(a journey that changed the world by opening the first direct sea route between Europe and Asia, of course you knew that)
But what really makes it special is who’s behind it.
The manager and creator is Salvador Sobral – nope, not the singer – but rather a kind of “enfant terrible” from Cascais, known for shaking things up a little (*).
The space is full of charm, with good music, great wine, and that hard-to-define “wow” factor.
And don’t let the “it’s in Lisbon” excuse stop you 🚕 an Uber from Cascais costs only around €30.
Less than a round of cocktails here (which are absolutely worth it).
And the food?
Great Menu, some Highlights include:
.Bluefin tuna belly with ponzu and wasabi
.Beef tartare with romesco, egg yolk, and fried bread
.Shrimp pasta with sea urchin butter and crystal prawn
And yes, desserts are a must:
.Dark chocolate with hazelnut ice cream and cocoa
.Grilled pineapple with ginger and citrus meringue
If you’re looking to step out of the Cascais bubble, this is the place.
(*) Back to Salvador: One more reason for the “enfant terrible” label: when it comes to some sports… our Salvador can be truly terrible.
